It is said that one-third of all Noh stages in Japan still remain on Sado Island. Among them, the Noh stage at Atsukushihiko Shrine, where performances have been absent since the Taishō era (1912-1926), is coming back. Thanks to the efforts of local Noh actors and community members, a long-awaited Noh performance will finally be held there.

This time, as part of the Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival, visitors can also join unique programs such as a Noh experience workshop and a live ambient music performance on the historic Noh stage. These special experiences will let you feel the world of Noh and the spirit of this cultural heritage in a new way.

A one-of-a-kind experience where past and present meet—witness the revival of a cultural treasure long asleep in the community, and the birth of something new.

On a Noh stage surrounded by the rich nature and history of Sado Island, discover the timeless beauty of this art form in a fresh and unforgettable way.
