How to spend your time on board

Car Ferry

Pet Corner

This is a fenced free-seating section on the deck where owners and their pets can spend time together.
Please be considerate of and share the space with other passengers who may also want to use it. Reservations are not required.

Tokiwamaru (Niigata-Ryotsu Route)
Okesamaru4th floor, port side of the Event Plaza: no air conditioning but heating is available
The first service may need to be better heated. We appreciate your understanding.
Tokiwamaru4th floor, starboard side of the Event Plaza: air-conditioned
4th floor, aft outside corridor on the starboard side: no air conditioning
4th floor, aft triangular room on the starboard side: air-conditioned
Koganemaru4th floor, outside corridor on the port side: no air conditioning

Pet Cage Area

Pets are kept in cages in an air-conditioned room. (The room is locked while the ferry is underway, so passengers are not allowed to stay in the room with their pets.)
We will either keep your pets in your pet carriers (e.g., pet cages) or in cages provided onboard the ferry. Reservations are not required.

How to use the service (drop-off/pick-up)

Okesamaru and Tokiwamaru:Passengers are responsible for checking in their pets when boarding the ferry and picking them up when disembarking.
Koganemaru:Please inquire at the information desk on the ferry when using this service.

Bottom row: 75 cm (length) X 57 cm (width) X 71 cm (depth), 3 spaces (Two spaces can be used as one by removing the sill plate that separates them.)

Onboard Information Desk

On Okesamaru and Tokiwamaru, cats, small animals, and small dogs can be dropped off at the Information Desk (3rd floor, Entrance Hall).
Name tags are available at the Ticket Office and the onboard Information Desk. Please be sure that your pet is in a cage when you attach a name to the cage and that you leave the cage with the onboard staff.

Tokiwamaru (Niigata-Ryotsu Route)

Jetfoil

  • Only small pets are allowed on board. Pets should be carried in your pet carriers (e.g., pet cages). Please keep your pet cages at your feet.
  • The pet carriers (e.g., pet cages) must contain your pet’s entire body and prevent its face and other body parts from sticking out.
  • While on board, we ask that you please do not let your pet’s face or body parts stick out.
  • Some passengers are not fond of animals or have allergies to animals, so we ask that you please abide by the above rules.

Requests

At the terminal and on board the car ferry

  • Please bring your own pet carriers (e.g., pet cages).
  • If you do not have pet carriers (e.g., pet cages) or if you bring large pets, please consult with our local staff. Please note that large pets may have to be transported on a car ferry as cargo.

Information for passengers embarking by car

  • Please do not leave your pets in the car while the ferry is underway, as there is no air conditioning in the vehicle yard (vehicle deck).
  • Please be advised that we are not responsible if your pet dies or becomes ill while left in a vehicle or in the event of an accident where your pet causes harm to others.
